In this medical malpractice case, the patient sustained an injury from a logging accident and was evaluated in the ER. An abdominal CT scan was performed, but signs of bowel perforation were missed on the scan images. The CT scans showed injury to the mesentery and extraluminal air in two locations. The patient was sent home and later died due to his injuries.
