Blood Flow

Blood flows through the heart in a specific pattern. First blood returns from the lungs and body to the atria. It is then pumped through the atrioventricular (AV) valves to the ventricles. The AV valves close when the ventricles are full. The ventricles then contract to pump the blood through the semilunar valves to the body and lungs.
